Prof. Hamid Reza Karimi was born in 1976. He received the BSc (First Hons.) degree in power systems from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 1998, and the MSc and PhD (First Hons.) degrees in control systems engineering from the University of Tehran, Tehran, in 2001 and 2005, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor of Applied Mechanics with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano.
Prof. Karimi's current research interests include:
- Control Theory: synchronization, singularly perturbed (multi-time scale) systems, stability analysis, identi_cation, estimation, time-delayed systems, fault diagnosis,
- Control Systems: networked control systems, adaptive/robust/optimal control, autonomous control systems, large-scale systems, neural networks, fuzzy systems
- Comuptational methods: wavelets, numerical computations of linear/nonlinear systems, intelligent techniques.
- Application: mechatronics, wind turbine/farm control, health monitoring, safety and logistics, vibration control, motor control, automotive systems, cutting process, robotics and manufacturing automation.
Prof. Karimi is an Editorial Board Member for some international journals, such as the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, the IEEE Transactions on Circuit And Systems I: Regular Papers, the IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, Information Sciences, the IEEE Access, IFAC-Mechatronics, Neurocomputing, the Asian Journal of Control, the Journal of The Franklin Institute, the International Journal of Control, Automation, and Systems, the International Journal of Fuzzy Systems, the International Journal of E-Navigation and Maritime Economy, and the Journal of Systems and Control Engineering. As recognition for Prof. Karimi's significant contributions and success to both teaching and research, Dr Karimi has been presented a number of awards, including Alexander-von-Humboldt Research Fellowship Award (in Germany), JSPS Research Award (in Japan), DAAD Research Award (in Germany), August-Wilhelm-Scheer Award (in Germany) and has been invited as visiting professor at a number of universities.
