Matteo STRANO is associate professor at the Dipartimento di Meccanica, Politecnico di Milano. Formerly, he had been assistant professor at the University of Cassino (from 2001 until 2008) and at the Politecnico (from 2009 to 2014).
His research interests are 1) the improvement of tube and sheet metal forming processes and their optimization through the FEM, 2) cryogenic machining, 3) energy efficiency in forming machines, 4) additive manufacturing of metals by extrusion.
He is the author of about 100 publications in the field of manufacturing systems and processes, including 28 papers in peer reviewed international journals. The Scopus database lists 49 published documents, which scored a total of 355 citations and an h-index of 10. According to Google Scholar, his works have received more than 650 citations.
He is a member of the Scientific-Technical Committee of MUSP, a public-private consortium located in Piacenza. He leads a small research group at the lab MUSP (Macchine Utensili e Sistemi di Produzione),
He is a member of the scientific board of ESAFORM (European Scientific Association for Material Forming) and he is chairman for the mini-symposium “Optimization and inverse analysis” of Esaform
He is the coordinator of the editorial board of the technical magazine “Lamiera”.
He has taught classes at all levels of studies (undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D.), with an average of about 14 credits per year since 2001. He currently teaches: “Advanced manufacturing processes” and “Virtual manufacturing” for the Master program in Mechanical Engineering, “Tecnologia Meccanica” for the bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.
He is one of the coordinators for industrial stages and internships of Mechanical Engineering students of Dipartimento di Meccanica.
