Marco Rossoni is an Assistant Professor (contract type A) at the department of Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, since May 2021. He received the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in December 2015, with a thesis titled “A knowledge-based Engineering Approach to Automate the Assembly Lines Configuration”. He received his PhD at Politecnico di Milano in April 2020 in Mechanical Engineering, with a thesis titled “Additive Manufacturing for Spare Parts Production”. After his PhD studies, he held a Research Fellow position at the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Università degli Studi di Bergamo.

He is the author and co-author of several scientific peer-reviewed publications on journals and international conference proceedings. He serves as topic and track chair at IMECE and CIE ASME conferences.

His research interests are related to methods and tools to support the product development process in Industry 4.0. Especially, he conducts research on information and knowledge management system (e.g. Knowledge-based Engineering, Ontologies) , Computer Aided Design, artificial intelligence techniques and Virtual Reality as applied to the product design process. The research activities are mainly driven by the experience gained by participating at EU-Funded Projects (Horizon 2020 ProRegio) and collaborations to research contracts with companies (e.g. Artsana SpA, Zoppas Industries).
