Francesco Ripamonti was born on 4th April 1978. He is associate professor of Applied Mechanics at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Politecnico di Milano. He currently teaches Applied Mechanics and Mechanics of Vibrations. He graduated cum laude in Mechanical Engineering in 2002 at the Politecnico di Milano, where he also received a PhD in Mechanical Systems Dynamics in 2006. In 2020 he obtained the position of associate professor. His research activity is focused in the field of vibroacoustics, dynamics and active control of mechanical systems (Smart Structures), tire noise, cable dynamics. He is coordinator of the Cable Dynamics laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Department, aimed at the experimental study of the dynamics of overhead lines (conductors and related fittings). He collaborates in the activities of the Interdepartmental Laboratory PSVL (Polimi Sound and Vibration Laboratory), the reference interdepartmental research structure of Politecnico di Milano in the area of vibroacoustics, applied acoustics and sound processing. He participated to several national and international research projects, such as FP5-2001-GROWTH-1: HIgh PERformance rail TRACKs (HIPERTRACK), FP6-SME-2004-Horizontal research activities involving SME's - Wind Early Alarm system for Terrestrial transport Handling Evaluation of Risks (WHEATER) e Accordo Quadro Regione Lombardia 2011 (Grants funded by Lombardia Region) - STrutture Ibride per la Meccanica e l'Aerospazio (Hybrid structures for mechanic and aerospace applications). He is author of more than 100 scientific publications and 11 patents.
