From 2 to 5 September, Politecnico di Milano’s Bovisa La Masa Campus hosted the 55th AIAS National Conference, a key meeting point for the scientific and industrial communities working in mechanical design and machine engineering.
A major achievement of this edition was the presentation of the “A. Capocaccia” Award for the paper “Assessing the wrinkling effect in thermoplastic composites under impact loading”, authored by Dayou Ma, researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shunqi Zhang, PhD candidate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Ícaro Araújo Silva, PhD candidate at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
Dedicated to early-career researchers, the award recognises a contribution investigating the impact response of thermoplastic composites and the wrinkling phenomena that can emerge during deformation.

The 56th edition of the conference will be held in Bari from 8 to 10 September 2027.
