The Department of Mechanical Engineering recently hosted an event designed to foster dialogue between academia and the rail freight industry. It was an opportunity to present ongoing research activities and, above all, to exchange views with industry representatives on the technological challenges facing the sector.

Participants in the round table included:

  • Maria Antonietta Zocco - Mercitalia Intermodal
  • Leonardo Sperduti Rampini and Pietro Muzzi - Ghibellina Srl
  • Luca Corniani, Francesco Mazzeo and Federico Zanelli - Politecnico di Milano

The event opened with remarks by Stefano Melzi and Stefano Bruni, who also provided an overview of current research activities and introduced the new test bench acquired through the MOST project.

The event ended with a guided tour of the laboratories, during which attendees also had the chance to see the new longitudinal dynamics test bench.

A valuable moment of exchange that highlights the importance of collaboration between research and industry in advancing rail freight innovation.
