He is an associate professor of Manufacturing technology at Politecnico di Milano, where he teaches classes on manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing. He has previously worked as a mechanical engineer (Mandelli, Piacenza), research assistant (CNR, Milano) and assistant professor (Università di Parma).
His main area of expertise is the tolerancing of mechanical assemblies. He has deeply practiced ASME-GD&T and ISO-GPS standards, and has developed methods for their implementation (tolerance specification, analysis and optimization). Other interests include DFMA (design for manufacturing and assembly), software support for 3D printing techniques, and defect reduction in casting and molding processes.
