Received the Ph.D. degree in Applied Mechanics from Politecnico di Milano in 2002. In 2001, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as a Researcher, where he is currently a full professor in Mechanical and Thermal Measurements. He is Associate Editor in Chief of the IEEE Transaction on Instrumentation and Measurement. His research interests are mainly in the field of measurements, with a focus on mechanical measurements, 3D vision-based techniques (DIC, structured light scanning, stereoscopy and Time of Flight sensors) and drone-based measurements. Contributes to these research topics cover: the measuring techniques development, applications in complex and hostile environments, qualification and reduction of the measuring uncertainty. Application areas include: structure dynamics analysis, cultural heritage protection, face-based biometrics, fluid-structure interaction, 3D scanning and material characterization.
