Born in 1968, Resta graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano in 1992. His academic career led him to become Full Professor of Applied Mechanics in 2004. In 2007 he was appointed Director of the Department of Mechanics, followed by the role of Delegate for Technology Transfer in 2011, a strategic position in relations with companies In 2017, he became the Rector of Politecnico di Milano and served as the President of the Conference of Italian University Rectors. Resta has authored over 300 publications and holds 10 patents to his name. He holds several positions in the Italian industrial and social community. He is also an expert member of the Technical Structure at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. Ferruccio Resta is President of Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, and Centro Nazionale per la Mobilità Sostenibile MOST.
