Casati Riccardo

He has been Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano since 2025, after serving as Associate Professor from 2018 to 2025 and Assistant Professor from 2015 to 2018. He was Visiting Scientist at POSTECH in South Korea in 2009 and at the University of Melbourne in Australia in 2013, and Research Fellow at CNR from 2005 to 2011. He obtained his PhD cum laude in Mechanical Engineering, as well as his M.Sc. in Materials Engineering and B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering, from Politecnico di Milano. He is President of the Additive Manufacturing and Powder Metallurgy Study Center of the Associazione Italiana di Metallurgia and served as Member of the Board of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the 2020–2025 term. He is a member of the EPMI Institute of the European Powder Metallurgy Association and served on the Organizing Committees of the TMS, EUROMAT, WorldPM, EuroPM and ESOMAT conferences. His research activity includes the coordination and scientific leadership of more than 10 EU, ESA and national research projects and over 30 industrial contracts. He is the author of more than 210 publications indexed in Google Scholar with over 5,500 citations and has been invited speaker at international conferences, workshops, seminars and summer schools. He also serves as project evaluator for international funding agencies including DFG, SNCF, ANR, SNRF, NCN, GACR and NSF and has proposed and participated in experiments at large-scale research facilities such as ESRF, DIAMOND and ELETTRA.
