Steven Chatterton received his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2002. In 2008 he became an assistant professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano and joined the Rotor Dynamics research group, becoming an associate professor in 2020.
His research focused on regression methods for failure estimation of turbines, dynamic phenomena in steam and gas turbines, instabilities in oil film bearings, blade vibrations and torsional analysis of industrial compressors. He is currently involved in the modeling of journal and thrust bearings and the diagnosis of rolling element bearings for high-speed trains. He is the author of over 200 publications presented at international conferences or published in international journals.
