Leonardo Caprio is a tenured researcher (RTDA) in the research line of Manufacturing and Production Systems of the Politecnico di Milano. He graduated from the Politecnico di Milano with a MSc in Mechanical Engineering in 2017 with a thesis on the comparison of pulsed and continuous wave emission in the additive manufacturing technology Laser Powder Bed Fusion. In 2021, he achieved his PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with an insight on the same technology, managing to develop monitoring techniques for the measurement of the penetration depth of the molten pool generated by the laser-material interaction. Highly involved in hands-on experimental activities and enthusiast of the laser technology in its different applications, he is currently developing industrial processes for the e-Mobility sector and studying monitoring approaches for sustainable technologies for Industry 4.0. Throughout his scientific activity he collaborated with different international universities and research groups. He published more than 15 papers on peer-reviewed journals and participated in different national and international conferences. His research activity has been awarded with the “Best Student Paper Award” at the International Congress of Lasers and Electro-Optics (ICALEO) 2020 and the prize Edoardo Capello “Giovane Ricercatore” at the XV AiTeM conference in 2022.
