Marco Belloli is Full Professor of Applied Mechanics at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano. His main research interests are wind energy, wind engineering and HMS of infrastructure networks with reference to bridges and viaducts. Concerning wind energy: his research topics are numerical and experimental simulation of the dynamic behavior of wind turbines, with particular attention to FOWTs; in this context he was the PI of the research unit of Politecnico di Milano for 4 EU H2020 projects. The long research experience in the field of wind engineering has seen him engaged in different subjects. He has been involved in more than 100 projects: bridges, stadiums and buildings with high vertical development, all of them very challenging from the fluid-structure interaction point of view. He worked on the development of new experimental methodologies, on the modeling of wind actions and on the execution of wind tunnel experimental tests. Among the most significant projects he worked in, the Canakkale 1915 bridge, the third Bosphorus bridge, the Messina Strait bridge, the Al-Janoub stadium in Qatar and the MBR stadium in Dubai must be cited. More recently, he started to work on the monitoring of bridges and viaducts for the characterization of infrastructural systems, in this area he has coordinated projects with RFI, ItalFerr, FNM, the Lombardy Region, MIMS, Raiway. He has been member of the Scientific Committee and Scientific Director of GVPM, Politecnico di Milano Wind Tunnel, member of the Board of Directors of Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, member of the EAWE Science Communication Committee. He is currently Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, member of the Academic Senate of the Politecnico di Milano, member of the Board of Directors of Sidera and member of the Management Committee of the JRC Politecnico Autostrade-Tech.
