He got his Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering in December 2006 (Università degli Studi di Firenze) presenting a thesis on the technological evolution of windows and window frames. In Florence, he concluded his MS (with honors) in Mechanical Engineering with a methodological thesis on the estimation of technical systems’ evolution potential and maturity assessment, that had been proficiently applied in the field of process engineering (granulation of pharmaceutical powders). Since July 2009 he worked at Politecnico di Milano as a contract researcher. There he faced research topics concerning technological innovation and forecasting evolutionary scenarios for technical systems, especially with reference to the domain of domestic appliances. He receives his PhD in Mechanical Engineering defending the thesis “Requirements Identification and Characterization in Innovation Processes”, where he presented the findings of the research activities carried out during the period 2010-2012 (25th cycle).
His thesis works has been awarded by different entities, both national and international: Best BS thesis on systematic innovation themes (APEIRON Italian association for systematic innovation - 2007); Best MS thesis on systematic innovation themes (APEIRON Italian association for systematic innovation - 2010) and Best PhD Dissertation award by ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers - 2014), Computer and Information in Engineering (CIE).
He worked on national and international funded projects for the development of Computer-Aided Innovation systems, for the evolution and the integration of household domestic appliances and for forecasting technical characteristics of products and related industrial processes, especially in the manufacturing domain.
Since February 2015 he started working at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano as an assistant professor (contract type A).
He’s author of more than 30 scientific papers that have published on international journals, books, monographs and conference proceedings.
His research interests include design methods with particular reference to techniques for the stimulation of designers’ creativity and for problem solving.
