Scaccabarozzi Diego

Associate Professor

Diego Scaccabarozzi is an Associate Professor in Mechanical and Thermal Measurements at the Polytechnic of Milan. His research focuses on the design, miniaturisation, and thermo-mechanical characterisation of space instrumentation, with extensive experience in infrared spectrometers and high-precision sensors for planetary exploration. He contributed and held leadership roles for thermo-mechanical and optomechanical development to major international missions and projects, Mars Express (PFS), ExoMars (MIMA and MicroMED), ESA Hera mission (VISTA), Tianwen-2 (DIANA) and MiLi – EU Horizon programme. Beyond instrument development and optimisation, his research addresses metrological characterisation, development of measurement techniques, uncertainty reduction in mechanical and thermal measurements, and vibration analysis for industrial, space, aerospace and sport applications.
