Magnanini Maria Chiara

Researcher

Born in Arezzo, Italy, in 1990. She completed her Master thesis in 2015 in Industrial and Management Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, and she spent a period in the Bosch company headquarters in Germany. She obtained the PhD cum laude in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis about the stochastic approximate analytical modelling of asynchronous multi-stage manufacturing systems. She is a visiting scholar at the University of Texas at Austin (USA) on the research topic of robust control of multi-stage manufacturing processes, focusing on applications related to semiconductor fabrication and at Karlsruhe Institute fur Technologie (Germany) on production systems and quality. Since 2024 she is Tenured Assistant Professor (RTT) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Politecnico di Milano. Her research interests include stochastic methodologies for the design, analysis and performance evaluation of manufacturing/remanufacturing systems, cyber-physical systems for multi-stage processes and zero-defect manufacturing, biointelligent manufacturing. She is participating in European research projects (Horizon Europe) and research leader in national projects and industrial collaborations. She is teaching 'Cyber-Physical Manufacturing Systems' (Master Course in Mechanical Engineering), and acts as assistant in the course ‘Tecnologia Meccanica e Qualità’ (Bachelor Course in Industrial and Management Engineering) and ‘Manufacturing Systems Engineering (Master Course in Mechanical Engineering). She is member of AITEM (the Italian Association of Manufacturing) and Research Affiliate of CIRP (International Academy for Production Engineering).
