Belfi Marco

Researcher

Marco Belfi is a Researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano.
In 2025, he gained a Ph.D. with Honors in Mechanical Engineering from the same university, which included an international research period at TU Delft (NL). His doctoral thesis focused on the application of the Quenching and Partitioning (QP) heat treatment to high-strength commercial steels.
He obtained his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2021. His M.Sc. thesis centered on the effect of surface condition on the oxidation and precipitation of Inconel 718, with part of the research conducted at the Universidad de Oviedo (ES).
His research activities focus on the study of processes and thermal/thermomechanical treatments of metallic materials, particularly high-strength steels. His primary interest is focused on microstructural and mechanical characterization and the correlation between processing parameters and final properties.
He is a member of the Italian Association of Metallurgy (AIM) and has participated, since 2022, in the Technical Committee "Heat Treatments and Metallography." His research findings have been presented in several publications in journals and at numerous international industry conferences.
